My sister took one of those tests. I was shocked to find out that hers showed at least 30% Portuguese. That was literally NEVER part of what I was told growing up. How does that even happen?! Honestly. I was told I am Italian, Indian, Mexican, German and Norwegian. Turns out I'm not Norwegian AT ALL...Barely some German...Weird. I'm not one of those who abruptly change my entire identity based on a test...HOW- EVER. I am shocked. I don't know the first thing about Portuguese people...Of course my sisters will be different compared to my own..But still. Very interesting!

Hi Liz! I had been using quizlet to compile European Portugese flashcards, I took a break from quizlet for a while, and when I went back to the site recently all of my cards were vocalized in Brazilian Portugese instead of European Portugese! I then tried to create some new cards and found there does not seem to be an option for European Portugese. I wonder if you could check on this and see if the same issue occurs for you? Maybe I'm missing something!

Portuguese sounds like Spanish with a French accent.

I’m from the UK and learning as my partner is from Viseu. I am a competent Spanish speaker which is helpful in some ways but HELP with the sound “x” which seems so change a lot!!

In Colombia, South America we say "carro" in Spanish for "car", although of course we would understand "vehículo". Curiously, an older way of pronouncing the letter "r" in Bogotá that people ofvmy grandfather's generation used sounded very similar to the "r" in some Portuguese accents that I've listened to. The "r" sounded almost like a French "r" with a bit of an "h" at the end. The word "carro" sounded something like "carrho". My main problem besides pronunciation seems to be with false cognates where the meanings of words that appear to have the same roots have diverged. Would it be possible to do a You Tube video on those?
